Support for social enterprises

KEPCO supports foundation of social enterprises to help provide jobs for North-Korean defectors or members of multicultural households so that they can stand on their own feet without depending on others. In 2012, KEPCO established Social Enterprise Support Group and signed the Labor·Management·Government MOU on Social Responsibilities following its declaration of New Vision on Corporate Social Responsibility. Since then, employees have donated KRW 1,000 from their monthly wages and partnered with Social Solidarity Bank for a micro financing program as part of the effort to help the underprivileged start their own business and become financially independent. KEPCO also helps social enterprises by procuring more products from and outsourcing businesses to such families, and has partnered with non-profit organizations to give meaningful support.

Finding Missing Children Campaign

Children should be loved and protected as future leaders of our country. However, there are still a lot of children in Korea who have been missing for a long time, and these children and their parents need urgent attention at the national level. KEPCO has taken advantage of its unique characteristic of serving the entire country as its customers to share the difficult burdens of finding lost children. Since March 1999, we have been actively participating in the search for lost children by printing photos of three babies and their parents’ contact information each month on the electricity bill sent to customers. By 2016, a total of 113 children were able to return home. KEPCO will continue to actively help more children return home soon, and will do its best to create a society where children can grow in a safe and healthy environment. We appreciate your continued interest and support.

Energy sharing fund

KEPCO has been writing off some delayed electric power payment of lower income families including recipients of basic livelihood security with limited electric power supply, using KEPCO Public Service Corp.’s fund for volunteering activities (Love Fund + Matching Grant.) This enables KEPCO to provide better energy welfare to the low-income class, fulfill its corporate social responsibilities and take care of neighbors in need.

One volunteering group : one village sisterhood

Each volunteering group at KEPCO maintains a sisterhood relationship with a rural village to ensure joint growth of cities and rural areas, where many of us were born and raised. Activities to support rural areas’ growth include inspecting electric equipment in community facilities and houses of older single-families and the disabled, helping harvest, consuming local agricultural produce, and engaging in farm stay and weekend farm. KEPCO’s love for rural areas will remain strong and solid with such sustainable support and partnership.
